What is Carnival up to? Tune in Monday to find out

by Chris Owen

Fan’s of Carnival senior cruise director John Heald’s Blog know that something is in the works at Carnival Cruise Lines.   Off and on recently, Heald has referred to a big announcement in New York this coming Monday.  If you follow Heald’s blog other than to moan about silly things or ask for something free when you cruise (give it a rest already would you?) there have been clues.  Little clues, but clues nonetheless.

we will be posting videos of the event and post event interviews with___________ and with __________. Those two blank spaces are very exciting indeed I promise” Heald says in today’s entry.

It’s all quite the secret but you can bet it’s going to be quite the event.  On Monday at 1PM Eastern time we will find out and surely share that info as soon as we can.

Remembering back to the last time Carnival made a big announcement in New York it was last December when the line threw its signature “Fun” hat in the ring as official confetti sponsor of the Times Square New Years Eve 2011 celebration. The sponsorship included multiple opportunities for the line to infuse its version of fun into the festivities including a free-cruise giveaway.  The next week, Carnival launched a campaign that “inspires people to try new things to add more Fun to their lives.” Carnival kind of “fun” that is, marking the beginning of a full-throttle social engagement effort.

Last May, I saw that effort play out in real time aboard the new Carnival Magic when Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill echoed the line’s consistent, unified message “We’re encouraging our guests to try something different, to go outside their normal comfort zone” on the ship’s inaugural sailing.

Will this announcement on Monday be more of the same?

We can only hope so!
