GSA: May we suggest a cruise for your next function? (an open letter)

Dear General Services Administration that is getting slammed for spending $823,000 ($2743 per guest) on a Las Vegas-area conference for 300 GSA employees in 2010,

May we suggest a cruise ship for your conference planning needs?

For less than half of what you spent in Vegas, $1371 more or less, we can put you on one heck of a decent cruise ship that is practically all-inclusive, hook you up with a conference center equal to many on land and call it a day.

That would not include all-you-can-drink cocktails, spa treatments, shore excursions and the like but don’t you think it would be a good idea to lay low on those items anyway, at least for a while?

If it makes you feel any better though, your $2743 per person price is not all that out of line compared to the total price of a cruise with everything thrown in.

Make that a premium stateroom choice and you’re there.

For example, Celebrity Cruises just recently highlighted a Multi-Functional Conference Center and Ballroom on their latest ship, Celebrity Reflection, due out this year.  That one comes in at about $2300 for the non-alcoholic version of a mid-range balcony stateroom.

We think that might work.

Let us know if we can help,

The Cruise Industry
