I’ve been on board a matter of hours but it only took about 32 seconds to “get” what’s going on here. Holland America Line is a nice fit for nice people. Period.
We’ll have a week to explore the ship and turn Holland America’s onboard programming inside out to see what makes it tick but my initial impression is “Oh my, where have you been all my life?”
Onboard walking the decks I see no scary people. Just normal folks enjoying a ship on the first day.
Was that someone walking by with a bucket of beer I just saw? Yes, it was and it was not out of place. Dining venues are operating at full speed and peppy crew members are around every corner, looking for people to help.
Did you get that? Looking for passengers that need assistance on everything from where to go to something to drink. They are everywhere from the bottom deck where everyone comes on board to the top deck where sun and fun ala Caribbean 1999 is happening.
How this will go, time will tell, but the first impression is very much a feeling of coming home to an old fashioned good time aboard a lovely ship.
One last thing: Get that “Holland America is for old people” thought out of your brain right now. Not hardly. Not hardly at all.
Wrap it up and tie it in a bow, this one is off to a good start.
And a couple Alaska Brewing Company White Ale which I have not had since Princess Cruises #FollowMeAtSea Twitter tour did not hurt one bit.
